Professor Joseph Itah Omada

PROFILE

Professor Joseph Itah Omada is a professional geologist with wide exposures in training and education at the tertiary levels. He worked with the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1985 to 2006) before transferring his services to Kogi State University, Anyigba. Between January, 1998 and March, 2006 he was seconded from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja to serve as Rector of the Polytechnic where he left indelible marks of a good leader. At the Kogi State University, Professor Omada served as Head of Department of Earth Sciences, Deputy Dean of Post Graduate School, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and represented the Senate and Congregation on the Governing Council and several committees of the Management and Council. Professor Omada is a Professor of Geology in the Department of Environmental Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria. He is also currently serving the Open University as Director of Research Administration. Professor Omada’s performance at the post in each of these positions was outstanding, commendable and exemplary. His wealth of experience and pedigree distinguish him as an astute administrator and academic who stands for honesty, integrity and hard work. He is a registered Geoscientist with national and international bodies such as Council of Mining and Geoscientists (COMEG), Fellow, Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), member, Nigeria Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), among others.
