The Directorate of Research Administration (DRA) was established by the Vice-Chancellor in December 2016 as a means of setting the University on the path to becoming a leader in cutting edge research that will impact society to meet institutional and national development goals and raise the institution’s research profile.
Objectives
Facilitate the development and implementation of the University’s research policy, research focus, and mechanisms to realize strategic research objectives
Drive all research activities in the University to produce innovative and result -based research;
Document, disseminate, and facilitate the utilisation of research outcomes to meet societal needs in line with the University’s vision and mission
Functions
Coordinate and document all research-related activities within the University and disseminate research outputs for utilization by stakeholders
Facilitate the development and implementation of research agenda for the institution
Promote a research culture and innovation through working with Faculties/departments, research institutes/centers to initiate collaborative multi and interdisciplinary research projects
Provide support and guidance to researchers through staff training, research proposal development, and processing of grants, grant management, etc
Facilitate ethical conduct of research through an institutional ethical committee
Receive research proposal and manage the review process
Monitor the progress of research projects to ensure achievement of research objectives publishable in high impact journals
Ensure financial accountability in the administration of grants and awards
Develop and maintain databases for the documentation of researchers and research outcomes
Publish and disseminate research outcomes through annual research reports and reputable journals
